Gerd Liebig is leaving his job as group marketing manager of Engel Holding GmbH, the Schwertberg, Austria-based manufacturer of injection molding machines and robots, to take another job in plastics.
Engel announced the move, saying it was Liebig’s decision to leave the company where he has worked for almost nine years.
Contacted Nov. 3, Liebig confirmed the news. He declined to say what his next job will be, or whether it will be in the plastics machinery sector. Liebig said his new employer likely will make an announcement after the first of the year.
“We are very sorry that Gerd Liebig has decided to take this step,” Engel CEO Peter Neumann said in a statement issued by the company. “Over the past nine years, Mr. Liebig has enhanced our global sales and marketing structure considerably. Through his great commitment, talent for dealing with people and sure sense of our markets, he has delivered a contribution to the success of the Engel Group — and for that we are very grateful.”
Liebig, 53, is a veteran of marketing in the plastics machinery industry. Before joining Engel in January of 2006, he spent 15 years at Demag Plastics Group — now Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery — as chief strategic marketing officer.
The statement from Engel said Liebig will remain in plastics, “accepting a wider scope of duties and greater responsibility in his new position.”
