French textiles firm Chomarat has opened a new plant in South Carolina for production of polymer-based advanced composites.
The new 58,500-square-foot plant is in Anderson, S.C., where Chomarat has operated other facilities for almost 30 years. The new facility will make C-Ply-brand composite fabric, which is used in the aerospace and automotive markets.
“The C-Ply offerings are touted as completely gap-free, a feat normal aerospace woven fabrics cannot yet claim,” general manager Michel Cognet said in an Oct. 27 news release. Officials added that the opening of the new plant “marks an important stage in Chomarat’s global expansion into the advanced composites market.”
Chomarat is a 116-year-old firm based in Le Cheylard, France. The company also operates plants in France, Spain, Tunisia and China.
